SMITH POINT RACE (DISTANCE SERIES #3)
August 19, 2006

DESCRIPTION

This event will consist of distance races for PHRF A, PHRF B/C, MORC, and PHRF NON-SPIN starting in the mouth of the Piankatank River in the afternoon on Saturday August 19, 2006, and finishing outside Jackson Creek. The full moon will be August 9, 2006.

PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

This race is the third race of the Distance Series

PROGRAM

A skipperís meeting will be conducted by radio on VHF Channel 72 with the Race Committee at 1300 hours, if possible. Dock, anchor, or raft in Fishing Bay or Jackson Creek after finishing for non-FBYC participating yachts.

Warning Signal

The warning signal for the first class will be at 1400 hours.

STARTING AREA

The starting area will be in the vicinity of FBYC "C". The starting line will be between a special buoy ìXî and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat. All competitors should check in with the Race Committee boat by 1345 hours.

COURSE

The first mark of the course will be FBYC "C". After starting, boats shall sail the remaining marks of the Course set forth below.

FINISH LINE

Between Piankatank R. Lt. QR 15 4M ì6î (FBYC ìBî) and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat stationed north of FBYC ìBî. If the Committee Boat is not on station at the finish, leave FBYC ìBî to port, and take your own time when you are within 25 yards of FBYC ìBî and it bears 180˚ magnetic from the helmsmanís position, and if possible record the names or sail numbers of the boats finishing immediately ahead and behind you. This information should be passed along to the Race Committee Chairman as soon as possible after returning to the dock.

TIME LIMIT

If one boat in a class finishes by 0900 hours on Sunday August 20, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class. Boats finishing after 1400 hours on Sunday, August 20, 2006 will be scored DNF.

AWARDS

Race awards will be given at a brunch at the main clubhouse Sunday, August 20 at 10:00 AM, assuming all boats have finished. The Long Distance Series awards will be presented at the Annual Awards party.

CBYRA SANCTION

This race is sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards.
