NOTICE OF RACE


(This Notice of Race may be amended from time to time pursuant to RRS 89.2)

1. RULES

1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2. J/70 Class Rules (CR) I. 1.1 (Spare Gennaker) and I. 1.3 (Support Boats) will apply.

1.3. RRS/US prescription to rule 40 is deleted. See CR C.4.1 (a).

1.4. Only the following prescriptions of US Sailing will apply: RRS 67 and 76.1, Appendix T Sections A (Penalties While Racing) and B (Post-Race Penalties).

1.5. RRS 63.7 will be replaced by: “If there is a conflict between a rule in the notice of race and one in the sailing instructions, the sailing instructions shall apply."

2. ADVERTISING

Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority (“OA”).

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1. The regatta is open to all boats of the J/70 Class which conform to the Class Rules.

3.2. Eligible boats may enter by completing the on-line entry form and paying the required fees.

3.3. To complete the registration process, the following information must be entered on-line via the regatta website, or submitted in person on site:

a) The crew list with valid ISAF sailor ID and ISAF classification for drivers and, for boats wishing to be eligible for Corinthian awards, for all crew,

b) Insurance information per NOR 14.1

3.4. Registration and payment can be completed on-line. There also will be on-site registration/payment.

3.5. Registrations will be capped at 60 boats; in order of registration and payment of entry fee. A wait list, if necessary, will be implemented.

4. CLASSIFICATION

4.1. The ISAF Regulation 22, Sailor Classification Code will apply. See www.isaf.org/isafsailor and CR C.3.2.

4.2. For Corinthian awards, all drivers and all crew shall be current ISAF Group 1 competitors and shall register their ISAF sailor ID and classification on-line via the regatta website or on-site in person by the end of registration.

5. FEES

5.1. The entry fee is as follows:

a) US$ 75.00: Until Midnight, EST, October 24, 2014.

b) Late Fee $100.00: After Midnight, EST, October 24, 2014.

5.2. The entry fee includes:

a) Invitation to all social events for the Owner/Charterer and up to three crew members.

b) In-water storage from the start of registration until the end of the regatta (see NOR 14).

5.3. Additional social packages will be available for purchase at registration.

5.4. Payment of all fees associated with each entry shall be paid at the time of registration. An entry will not be considered final until all fees are paid and all required forms are submitted.

6. SCHEDULE

6.1. Final Registration and Check-In will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015, from 1700-2100, and from 0800 to 0900 on Saturday October 3, 2015, in the main lobby at the Fishing Bay Yacht Club.

6.2. A Competitors Meeting will be held at 0900 Saturday, October 3, 2015, by the Flagpole on

the Jackson Creek side of the yacht club campus.

6.3. Racing days will be Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4, 2015.

6.4. The scheduled time of the warning signal for each race day is 1100 on Saturday and 1030 on Sunday.

6.5. No race will be started after 1400 on Sunday.

6.6. Three races are scheduled per day; 6 races total.

6.7. Social activities are planned for each day: beer and dinner Saturday; and beer, snacks, and awards on Sunday.

7. ON-SITE REGISTRATION, INSPECTION AND MEASUREMENT

7.1. All crews (including drivers) must complete on-site forms and waivers during registration hours, unless previously completed on-line.

7.2. Valid and current written proof of insurance shall be presented at on-site registration, unless previously submitted on-line.

7.3. Boats and sails are subject to inspection.

7.4. Changes or substitution of sails shall be in accordance with CR C.10 and will require the written consent of the race committee.

7.5. Changes or substitutions of crew will require written consent of the race committee.

7.6. Bow identifiers may be assigned by the race committee and given to each participating boat at registration. If so, they shall be affixed to the hull according to the instructions provided by the OA.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available at registration and may be posted on-line.

9. LAUNCHING AND MOORAGE

9.1. All boats must be in the water by 0900 on the day racing begins. Late launching will require RC approval.

9.2. All boats shall remain in the water until the end of racing, unless granted prior permission by the Principal Race Officer.

10. COURSES

The courses will be windward/leeward configurations.

11. SCORING

11.1. The Low Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will apply. A boat’s score will be the total of all her race scores. There will be no discards.

11.2 One complete race is necessary to constitute a regatta.

12. PRIZES

12.1. Prizes will be presented to the top three boats Overall.

12.2. Prizes will be presented to the top three Corinthian boats.

13. COACH AND SUPPORT BOATS

13.1. All support boats are required to monitor the event’s designated Race Committee VHF channel when in the race course area.

13.2. Any additional support boat instructions will be stated in the SIs.

14. INSURANCE

14.1. All boats are required to hold adequate third-party insurance ($300,00.00) and it is the owner or owner’s representative’s sole and inescapable responsibility to ensure that the insurance is in place and is adequate prior to competing in the event.

14.2. Proof of Insurance shall be provided at the time of on-line or in person registration.

15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Sailing is an activity that carries with it an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at their own risk and are reminded to pay special attention to RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers include the Organizing Authority, The Fishing Bay Yacht Club, Race Committee, Protest Committee, sponsors, volunteers, or any other affiliated organization or official who will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of practice for or participation in this event during shore side or on-the-water activities. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.

16. AMENDMENTS TO THIS NOTICE

The OA may amend this notice. Amendments will be posted on page 1 in RED, and, if practical, posted on the event website.

17. ON-SITE BOAT STORAGE

Boats and trailers may be stored in the trailer and dry hoist yards at the club. Boats may launch using the club’s dry sail hoist or concrete ramp. Boats will be moored in available slips or rafted up at the ends of the club piers on the Jackson Creek side (overnight mooring at the Fishing Bay side pier near the ramp is not recommended due to possibility of wind and waves). Boats shall be removed from club property within one week after the conclusion of the regatta. Additional launching capacity and mooring will be available at Deltaville Marina, across Jackson Creek from the yacht club, if needed.

18. LODGING INFORMATION

The club will endeavor to provide some lodging in members’ homes or boats, first come, first served. Lodging information will be posted on the event web site. Camping by tent is permitted on club grounds, and limited camping for a few RVs is available, first come, first served. Camping is limited to the designated areas on the Jackson Creek side of the yacht club campus.
