Fishing Bay Yacht Club ILCA Fleet
ILCA Fleet 332 at Fishing Bay Yacht Club
Celebrating Over 50 Years of One-Design Racing on the Chesapeake Bay
ILCA Fleet 332—originally known as Laser Fleet 332—was formed around 1972, making it one of the longest-standing and most active one-design fleets at Fishing Bay Yacht Club. For over five decades, this fleet has provided exciting, competitive racing and a supportive sailing community for ILCA sailors of all ages and skill levels.
The fleet's racing calendar spans the entire sailing season, with events from spring through late fall. Sailors can enjoy a wide range of regattas, including single-day ILCA-only events, multi-fleet club races, and participation in FBYC’s two-day Annual One-Design Regatta, one of the largest regattas on the Bay. The sailing is challenging, the competition is tight, and the camaraderie on and off the water is unmatched.
A crown jewel of the season—and a source of pride for the fleet—is the Chesapeake Bay ILCA Masters Championship, first held in 1981. Designed for ILCA sailors aged 30 and older, the Masters has grown into a nationally renowned event, regularly attracting top-tier competitors from across the country. Hosted each fall at Fishing Bay, the regatta combines high-level racing with shoreside hospitality that reflects the club’s welcoming spirit. Warm meals, cold drinks, and great company round out a weekend that many return to year after year.
Recruitment and growth are an essential part of Fleet 332’s ongoing success. Whether you’re a seasoned racer looking to stay sharp, a sailor returning to the ILCA after time away, or someone brand-new to the boat, you’ll find an enthusiastic and inclusive community ready to help you get on the water. The ILCA is a rewarding boat to sail—simple, fast, and technical—and Fleet 332 sailors are always happy to offer tuning tips, rigging help, or just a warm welcome at the dock.
With the Chesapeake Bay as our playground and a fleet history that spans generations, ILCA Fleet 332 is an ideal place to experience the thrill of one-design racing and the fellowship that defines Fishing Bay Yacht Club. Come join us—whether for a single regatta or an entire season—and see why ILCA sailing at Fishing Bay is some of the best in the country.
