SMITH POINT RACE

DESCRIPTION |
This event will consist of distance races for PHRF SPINNAKER, MORC and PHRF NON SPINNAKER classes starting in the mouth of the Piankatank River in the afternoon on Saturday September 13, 2003, and finishing outside Jackson Creek. The full moon will be September 13, 2003. PHRF NON SPINNAKER will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind. |
PROGRAM |
Bring your own lunch at the main clubhouse with a blessing at 1200 hours. Beverages will be provided beginning at 1130 hours. A skippers meeting will be conducted by radio on VHF Channel 72 with the Race Committee at 1300 hours, if possible. Dock, anchor, or raft in Fishing Bay or Jackson Creek after finishing for non-FBYC participating yachts. Awards will be given at a breakfast to be held at Fannies House at approximately 0930 hours Sunday, September 14, assuming all boats have finished. |
Warning Signal |
The warning signal for the first class will be at 1400 hours. |
STARTING AREA |
The starting area will be in the vicinity of Club Mark "C" . The starting line will be between a special buoy "X" and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat. All competitors should check in with the Race Committee boat by 1345 hours. |
COURSE |
The first mark of the course will be Club Mark "C". After starting, boats shall sail the remaining marks of the Course set forth below. |

FINISH LINE |
Between Piankatank R. Lt. "6" Fl R 6s (FBYC "B") and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat stationed north of FBYC "B". If the Committee Boat is not on station at the finish, leave FBYC "B" to port, and take your own time when you are within 25 yards of FBYC "B" and it bears 180° magnetic from the helmsmans position, and if possible record the names or sail numbers of the boats finishing immediately ahead and behind you. This information should be passed along to the Race Committee Chairman as soon as possible after returning to the dock. |
TIME LIMIT |
If one boat in a class finishes by 0900 hours on Sunday September 14, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class. Boats finishing after 1400 hours on Sunday, September 14, 2003 will be scored DNF. |
AWARDS |
Awards will be given for each class and qualifying subclass. Presentation of awards will be at a breakfast at Fannies House Sunday September 14 at 0930 hours, assuming all boats have finished. |

This race is sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards. |
