Point to Point Race
July 30-31, 2005
DESCRIPTION |
This event will consist of a long distance point to point race divided into two races (outbound and return) held on Saturday July 30, and Sunday July 31, 2005 respectively. This race will be a staggered-start race using government marks defining a prescribed course designated by the race committee before the start. This race will be included as part of the Long Distance Series. PHRF Non Spinnaker will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind. |

PROGRAM |
Awards for the outbound race will be presented at a dinner following the first day's races. Overall awards for the Long Distance Series will be presented at the Annual Awards Dinner on October 28th |
Skipper's |
There will be a Skipper's Meeting at 0900 hours at the flagpole adjacent to the Jackson Creek parking lot. A prescribed starting time for each boat will be provided at the skippers meeting. |
Warning Signal |
The warning signal for the first boat will be at 1000 hours. The Race Committee will provide each boat with its starting time at the skipper's meeting. |
COURSES |
Based on forecast conditions, the Race Committee will select one of three courses for the race. The starting line for each course will be at or near the #5 day mark near the mouth of the Piankatank River. The three potential courses are: Course 1 - Start to Plantation Light off the town of Cape Charles - 22.5 NM Course 2 - Start to #2 off the mouth of Onancock Creek - 23.5 NM Course 3 - Start to Great Wicomico Platform off the mouth of the Great Wicomico River near Reedville - 19.5 These course lengths are approximate and do not include any starting or finishing legs that may be added before the race begins. The full course including government marks will be provided with the Special Sailing Instructions by the race committee at the skipper's meeting. In the event a committee boat is not at the prescribed location, skippers will be responsible for noting their finish time at the mark and/or position specified in the sailing instructions. |
TIME LIMITS |
The Race Committee will establish the time limit for this race at the skipper's meeting. |
SCORING |
The winner in each class shall be the boat that finishes first in that class. The combined score for this race will be included in the Long-Distance Series. |
CBYRA SANCTION |
This race is not sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards and will not be used in scoring for annual perpetual trophies. |
