This year VIMS has extended an exclusive invitation for FBYC cruisers to come and tour their laboratory and waterfront facilities. Details of this special guided tour will be made available at the website and in the LOG. Cruisers will convoy to the York where anchorage in Sarah Creek or slips at York River Yacht Haven will be reserved. Plan to join
the FBYC Cruisers when we embark on a trip down to VIMS (Virginia Institute of
Marine Science) on early Saturday.
We will stay at the Yorktown
River Yacht Haven Marina on Sarah
At 2 PM, VIMS will provide a van that will
meet us at the YRYH Marina, and transport us to the main campus.
There will be a
brief tour of the facilities, followed by two lectures on the
At 5:30 PM, we will gather on the dock for
cocktails (each boat to bring a light hors doeuvre); wine and beer will be
provided.
6:30 PM will
find us being seated at the Rivers Inn Restaurant (804 642 9942), which will be
adjacent to our boat slips. Please
notify me as to how many of your crew will be eating with
us.
On Sunday, we will leave the docks around
8 AM, and sail over to the Yorktown Riverwalk Landing, www.yorkcounty.gov/riverwalk. They have installed floating docks that we can use for up to
4 hrs. without a charge. We plan to
have breakfast at 9 AM at the Duke of York Hotel (757 898 5270), look around the
town, and then return to Deltaville at your leisure.
