DESCRIPTION

This series will consist of the following for PHRF A, PHRF B/C, and PHRF NON-SPIN:

Fishing Bay to Urbanna, May 26, 2007
Long Distance Race, June 9, 2007
Moonlight Race, June 30
Smith Point Race, August 18, 2007
Wolf Trap Race, September 15, 2007.

PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

Planned format for all classes is in the NOR for each individual race.

PROGRAM

Awards will be presented for each race completed and refreshments will be provided by FBYC after each day’s races. Overall awards for the series will be presented at the Annual Awards Party.

WARNING SIGNAL

The warning signal time is in the NOR for each individual race.

STARTING AREA

Starting area is designated in the NOR for each individual race.

COURSES

Course information is in the NOR for each individual race.

TIME LIMITS

Time limits are in the NOR for each individual race.

SCORING

The race winner in each class (i.e., PHRF SPIN, or NON-SPINNAKER) will be the boat having the lowest total point score for the series. A boat may qualify for winning regardless of the number of races she has started. There will be no throw-outs. Awards will be presented at the Annual Dinner

CBYRA SANCTION

All races in this series are sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards.

CHECK IN

Each skipper shall check in by passing within hail of the RC prior to the warning of his or her class. Any skipper who retires or withdraws must notify of the RC of their intentions and have the RC confirm notification. Failure to do so will result in a DNS.

URBANNA WEEKEND REGATTA

May 26 & 27, 2007

Fishing Bay To Urbanna Race (Distance series #1)

Saturday, May 26

DESCRIPTION

On Saturday, May 26, a point-to-point race will be held from Fishing Bay Yacht Club to Urbanna for PHRF A, PHRF B/C, and PHRF NON-SPIN.

This race is the first race of the Distance Series.

For this race, PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

REGISTRATION

Each skipper should make reservations at least one week in advance by registering online at www.fbyc.net or sending in the reservation form that will be published in The Log to indicate the number for dinner and include payment for dinner and entertainment.

PROGRAM

Dock, anchor, or raft in Urbanna Creek. Cocktails (BYOL), kegs, and dinner will be available at Rosegill.

WARNING SIGNAL

The warning signal for the race will be at 1000 hours.

STARTING AREA

Between Piankatank R. G “5” (FBYC “A”) and the Piankatank R. Lt. QR 15 4M “6” (FBYC “B), or down the course. The starting line will be between a special buoy “X” and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat.

COURSE

The first mark of the course will be either (1) special buoy “Y” or (2) a government mark listed in Appendix A. The identity of the Windward Mark and the approximate magnetic course from the Committee Boat shall be displayed on the course board on the Committee Boat below the designated course (“A” or “B”) After rounding the special buoy “Y” or the government mark, boats shall sail the remaining marks of either Course A or Course B set forth below as specified by the Race Committee on the course board for each class:

FINISH LINE

The Committee Boat will be on station north of the mouth of Urbanna Creek. The finish line will be between an orange or yellow flag on Committee Boat and special buoy “X”.

SHORTENED COURSE

The Race Committee may shorten the race at any mark of the course including near the center span of the Rappahannock River Bridge. Skippers are advised to keep watch for a Committee Boat flying Code Flag “S” near any mark of the course.

TIME LIMIT

If one boat in a class finishes within 6 hours of the start for that class, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class.

AWARDS

Awards for the Urbanna Race will be presented during an awards ceremony at Rosegill on Saturday, May 26, 2007. The Long Distance Series awards will be presented at the Annual Awards party.

RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER RACES

Sunday, May 27

DESCRIPTION

On Sunday, May 27, multiple round-the-buoys races will be held on the Rappahannock River for PHRF A, PHRF B, PHRF C, and PHRF NON-SPIN. The round-the-buoys races will be scored as a series separately from the Fishing Bay to Urbanna Race. For these races, PHRF NON-SPIN will have two subclasses, Single Headsail and Double Headsail. The Single Headsail subclass will be allowed one (1) headsail downwind (1HS) and the Double Headsail (2HS) subclass will be allowed two (2) headsails downwind. The subclasses will start together and sail the same courses. The class flag for the 1 HS class will be as provided in the FBYC GSIs. The class flag for 2 HS will be the same with the addition of a white flag.

PROGRAM

Boats not returning to FBYC on Sunday, May 27 may layover at Rappahannock River Yacht Club. RRYC will sponsor a potluck supper for all participants at their club after the races.

WARNING SIGNAL

The warning signal for the first race will be at 1100.

COURSES

The Starting area will be in the Rappahannock River upstream of the Rappahannock River Bridge and downstream of Rappahannock R “R6” Fl R 4s Bell. The starting and finishing lines will be between the orange or yellow flag on the Committee boat and a drop-mark pursuant to Appendix D. A round-the-buoys course using drop marks as shown in Appendix D will be used, with a windward start attempted.

TIME LIMIT

If one boat in a class (i.e., PHRF SPIN, OR NON-SPIN) finishes within two (2) hours after the start for that class, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class.

SCORING

The day’s winner in each class (i.e., PHRF A, PHRF B, PHRF C, or NON-SPIN) will be the boat in the class having the lowest total point score for the day. A boat may qualify for winning regardless of the number of races she has started. There will be no throw-outs for this day.

AWARDS

Awards for the day's races will be presented at the social event sponsored by the RRYC on Sunday, May 27, 2007.

CBYRA SANCTION

Each race day is sanctioned as a separate event for CBYRA High Point awards.
