April 12: SAFETY AND SEAMANSHIP: WEATHER AND STORM TACTICS FOR BAY
AND COASTAL SAILORS
Safety and Seamanship Second Edition: After the success of last
season's sea safety seminar, the Cruising Division will present another chapter
in the series. This year's topic is an in-depth review of weather for sailors,
how to analyze and avoid problems and how to deal with them if the fates don't
treat you by the rules. Pat Healy, our popular weather expert from last year's
survey course, will return for a morning-long session on analyzing and
understanding marine weather, followed by an afternoon session on heavy
weather sailing and storm tactics led by US Sailing instructor Ralph Naranjo.
Register early at www.fbyc.net. Like last year, seating at the Clubhouse will be limited.
Fees and schedule details will be published in the Log and at the website in
advance of this event. Chaired by George Burke, burkeg@paraccess.com or call 804-359-1187 (H), 804-516-8600 (C).
