July 26: SAFETY AND SEAMANSHIP: MAN OVERBOARD!
MAN OVERBOARD! is the theme of this years sea safety seminar and a warm Sunday with warm water is the ideal venue. Attendees will meet at 10:00 in the main clubhouse 2nd floor for a didactic session, followed by supervised demonstrations on the water, with course attendees practicing man overboard drills using real victims and the assistance and back-up of an FBYC chase boat and instructors. All FBYC offshore fleets are advised to attend this including racing skippers and cruising couples. How often have any of you actually tried to pluck a real person, not a cushion or flotation device, out of the water under duress? We can all learn from this one. Look for details of this event in a future LOG and at the website. Fees and schedule details will be published in the Log and at the website in advance of this event. Chaired by George Burke.
