June 18 – July 4: TWO-WEEK CRUISE

This cruise will be to the Albemarle and Pamlico Sound areas of North Carolina. We will cruise down to Norfolk on Saturday morning, anchoring at Hospital Point or slipping at Waterside. The objective is to catch the 8:30 am lock opening at Deep Creek the next morning. We will pass though the Dismal Swamp Canal to Elizabeth City. After spending a day sightseeing in Elizabeth City, we will move on to Belhaven, then Oriental and New Bern. We will spend a day in New Bern touring Tryon Palace, etc. We will then move on to Beaufort and Cape Lookout. We will then cruise to Ocracoke and Manteo. This is a long run across Pamlico Sound and should be a good sail. There is the opportunity to take the offshore route home from Cape Lookout. If the full two weeks does not fit your schedule, you can head home from Beaufort. The remainder will take the Virginia cut back home from Manteo. Contact: Joe Schott at hjschott@verizon.net.
