Our group will depart FBYC on the Wednesday just after Labor Day. We will push fairly hard for the first three days to reach Mt. Vernon, where our pace will slow to a crawl. On the way up the Potomac, we will take the time to enjoy some of Maryland’s famous blue crabs at Cobb’s Island. At Mt. Vernon, we plan to tour George Washington’s home and beautiful grounds before moving upstream and across the Potomac for six miles to National Harbor. This stop will provide ample opportunities for upscale shopping and dining. There is also a ferry which can take us from National Harbor to Old Town Alexandria. After another arduous six-mile journey upriver, we will dock in DC at the Capital Yacht Club and explore many of the monuments, museums, and other points of interest in our nation’s capital. On our return trip, we will spend two nights at Colonial Beach and enjoy the unique history and ambiance of this very pleasant town. From here we will make our way back to Fishing Bay with possible stops at Point Lookout or St. Mary’s City and Reedville. Beautiful weather, beam reaches, and favorable currents are expected throughout this cruise.
