July 19: ON-THE-WATER, SUDDENLY IN COMMAND CLASS

If you have ever wondered what you would do if your sailing partner became incapacitated during a weekend cruise or an offshore passage, then this may be of interest. We envision this “class” as an opportunity for any of our cruisers, prospective cruisers or second mates to take advantage of learning from our seasoned cruisers regarding some of their personal lessons learned on-the-water. Our plan is to pair up participants aboard various cruising vessels of different configurations, so that they can ask all kinds of questions from sail trim, anchoring, to the dreaded final approach to the dock. We expect some of our experienced female helmspersons to actually leave the dock for hands-on applications of boat and sail handling techniques.
