Fishing Bay Yacht Club ("FBYC") welcomes J70 sailors to Deltaville, Virginia, for the first J70 Chesapeake Championship on November 1-2, 2014. Early November generally offers excellent sailing conditions in the local venue at the mouth of the Piankatank River and in the Middle Chesapeake Bay.
Registration, scoring and posting of race documents, an entry list, results and other information is provided by Yacht Scoring, which is familiar to most travelling J70 sailors.
To register, visit http://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=1056 where you will find the Notice of Race ("NOR") and, over time, other race documents. You can also find on line registration by visiting www.yachtscoring.com and scrolling down the list of 2014 regattas in chronological order and clicking on this event. Registration will also be provided on site on Friday October 31 and briefly Saturday, November 1, as provided in the NOR. Registration is limited to 60 boats.
See Who is coming.
The Entry Fee is $75 until Midnight, October 24, 2014. After midnight October 24, 2014, the Late Entry Fee will be $100. The entry fee includes invitation to all social events for the Owner/Charterer and up to three crew members.
Launching at FBYC will be provided at FBYC by crane and by ramp. If needed, additional crane launching will be available at Deltaville Marina, across Jackson Creek from FBYC. All boats must be in the water by 0900 Saturday. No boats shall be hauled until the end of the regatta, without permission of the Race Committee. Sheltered mooring is available at FBYC's Jackson Creek docks; mooring on the Fishing Bay side, where the ramp is located is not recommended, due to the possibility of wind and waves. No race will be started after 1400 Sunday, November 2.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 boats Overall, and to the top 3 "Corinthian" boats. To be eligible for the Corinthian division, the skipper and each crew must have a valid ISAF Classification 1. For information and registry on ISAF, visit www.isaf.org/sailors/ All other boats will be scored only in the Overall division.
Camping is permitted by tent on the Jackson Creek side of the FBYC campus, and limited facilities for a few RVs are available by prior arrangement with the Event Chair. FBYC will endeavor to arrange some lodging with members on a first come, first served basis. Contact the Event Chair after registering. Additional local and nearby accommodations can be found at the Accomodations link in the left margin.
