The sailing season is about to begin with our annual shakedown cruise to the MYC. This has always been a well-attended event where everyone reconnects to start the season. It is MYC’s Flag Raising and Dinner Dance. We should all be docked by 1700 hours, so as to not interfere with the Flag ceremony at the dock. We are asked to wear sport jackets and a tie. The ladies should dress appropriately. MYC provides cocktails and appetizers from 1730 through 1800 hours. Dinner follows at 1830 hours. It is a full buffet from soup through desert with meat fish and all the trimmings. Following dinner they have the band “STROKEN” returning, that plays very danceable music. The dancing will be under their new roof over the outdoor porch. All of this is for a fee of $33.00 per person plus tax and a gratuity of your choice. They ask that we pay by check or cash, so they don’t get hit with the credit card company fee. Please do as they request.
All you need to provide is your beverage of choice after dinner. Dockage is free for the first night and can be arranged by contacting their Fleet Captain, Donald (Chip) Kensey at fleetcaptain@mathewsyachtclub.com or the club manager, Mark Letchworth at 804 725-3165. The manager can also be reached at mycmanager@hotmail.com.
If you need to come by car, take the road to Gwynns Island #223 for ½ mile then turn right on Crab Neck Road. Take the second road to the right, Yacht Club Road. It ends at the MYC.
Sign up on the FBYC website. Sign up deadline is April 27th so we can tell the MYC how many people we will have.
