This cruise would allow us to join the Ocean Cruising Club’s Southern New England Cruise in Martha’s Vineyard. We will have the flexibility to make changes on the way as the group desires. Boats will have the flexibility to have crew/guests come and go from a variety of destinations on the cruise. We envision that we will be cruising for about 5 weeks (give or take, longer or shorter, as you wish). As always, everything will be weather-dependent and distances are approximate. There is some time built in on the front end to allow for a delayed departure from the Chesapeake due to weather conditions (as we experienced last year), without disrupting the remainder of the schedule. We plan to have Cap’n George run a VHF net in the mornings to share information or to make changes due to weather.
We are working on a smorgasbord of destinations in Long Island Sound from which to choose for the balance of the cruise. Boats can opt to go to Maine from Marblehead; return to the Chesapeake from Block Island; or explore Long Island Sound before returning home. To do the area justice, we would plan on 10 days to 2 weeks cruising. We will provide descriptions of recommended destinations for boats wishing to stay for the LIS cruising. All transit times are based on averaging 6.5 knots and do not take into account boosts (or drag) from current.
