DESCRIPTION New event in 2017 for Fishing Bay females! A morning sailing/ racing clinic for women of all degrees of experience and age, with a combination of classroom learning and on-the-water time.
Front Runner and Flying Scot sailboats will be used for the on-the-water portion.
The boats are kindly being loaned for this event, or you can bring your own.
The Event Chair will coordinate your spot on a boat. The clinic will have two class offerings. Choose your preferred class when you register.
1) Beginning Sailing class: For the novice or someone with a bit of sailing knowledge. Improving basic sailing knowledge, gaining comfort with boat handling; not racing focused. You can be a skipper or crew when on the water, depending on your comfort level. Taught by Caroline Garrett, J World instructor, 2000. Level 3 US Sailing Instructor.
2) Advanced Racing class: For those familiar with racing. Increased boat handling skills, increasing “tiller time”, racing strategy and tactics. You can be a skipper or crew, depending on your comfort level. Taught by Parker Garrett, US Naval Academy Dinghy Team 1997-2001, dad extraordinaire.
The clinic will be a primer for the Seabreeze Regatta occurring in the afternoon. Coaching will continue on the water during the regatta to extend your learning experience! We encourage continuing participation on the same boats for the afternoon regatta - for a full day of fun and camaraderie with some fabulous FBYC females!
Separate sign-up for the afternoon regatta is necessary. Coordinate boat entry for the Seabreeze Regatta with Clinic Event Chair.
