Mike Camp and Sydney Fleischer will lead this 3 day/2 night cruise over August 3/4/5 to Yorktown's Riverwalk Landing Marina (RLM), which is approximately 33 NM from FBYC. The preliminary plan includes a pizza meet-up at FBYC Thursday evening; Friday evening - pickup cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at the dock; Saturday - visit the Revolutionary War museum + an afternoon on the beach, followed by a group dinner at the Riverwalk Landing restaurant; Sunday shove off after freestyle breakfast. Some cruisers have raised questions regarding the tidal cross currents encountered at times while entering and docking at the Yorktown Riverwalk Landing Marina, consequently we've selected the Friday/Saturday/Sunday weekend (August 3/4/5) in order to have the lowest possible rate of current.
The RLM dockmaster is holding 12 slips for us for August 3 & 4. To properly coordinate slip assignments in this busy marina, the dockmaster is requesting boat and captain’s contact info a month in advance if at all possible. So, please contact the dockmaster (757-890-3370, dockmaster@yorkcounty.gov) by July 3 with the name of your vessel; length and beam; the captain’s name, cell phone number and email; shore power requirements for your vessel; and the power cord length and plug-in location on your boat.
Some might prefer to stay across the York River in Sarah Creek at the York River Yacht Haven, but a dinghy ride over to Yorktown is 1.7 mi. Or, you might choose to stage a car at YRYH if more convenient. "Social only" sign-ups who can't come by boat but would like to join the dinner or museum tours are also welcome.
