Learn to Cruise the Chesapeake Bay with FBYC

Want to explore the Chesapeake Bay by sailboat but don't know how to get started?  Well, Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville, VA is your answer. 

Beginning with two Richmond-based "get-togethers," you will learn about exploring the Chesapeake Bay aboard a cruising sailboat.  The club has numerous captains who are eager to share their time, their sailboats and their expertise with novices and experts alike.  Their goals are to:

• Get you hooked on the cruising lifestyle, whether you ever own a boat or not.
• Introduce you to FBYC and all the programs it offers members--from sailing instruction to oyster roasts.
• Develop competent crew eager to cruise up and down the Chesapeake or perhaps even offshore.

Session 1:  Cruising on the Chesapeake Bay   Learn where to go sailing, the cruising philosophy, and meet other adults wanting to learn new skills and make new friends.  Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 7-9 PM in Richmond, VA

Session 2:  How to Become Crew  Learn a few sailing basics, meet some skippers and figure out how to pack all you need in a small duffel bag.  Thursday, April 2, 2020 from 7-9 PM in Richmond, VA

Session 3:  Overnight Chesapeake Cruise  Grab your gear, jump on your assigned boat, and go!  We'll match you with a boat needing crew and show you your bunk.  Summer weekend dates determined by skipper and crew availability and, of course, the weather.

There is no cost for these seminars, but we do require that you attend both "on shore" sessions before the cruise weekend.  Just register by clicking on the red sign-up link on the left.  We'll get back to you with all the necessary details.
