NOTICE The event information below, used in conjunction with the General One Design Notice of Race, comprises the complete NOTICE OF RACE for the event.
DESCRIPTION This is a single day of racing including a One Design training session. If we can't be in the Caribbean, we might as well be on the Chesapeake! Join us for a Caribbean-inspired regatta. Ability grouped fleets (A and B fleets) will be in effect during this race for classes that elect this option prior to the start of the event.
REGISTRATION Advance registration is encouraged at www.fbyc.net, the link on the event page under documents or directly on Regatta Network.
CLASSES Flying Scot, Front Runner as well as any class of any three or more like or unlike One-Design boats. The Portsmouth Number (D-PN) handicapping system will be used to score classes of unlike boats. If there are fewer than three Portsmouth class boats they may participate in a parent class fleet (eg. Flying Scot) and race against them under the Portsmouth system. The parent class will still maintain their own separate class scoring.
ON-SHORE TRAINING SESSION conducted by the fleet captains will begin at 0900 in the fleet boat parking area.
ON-WATER TRAINING - Wind permitting, we will conduct on the water coaching, tailored to participants needs, and ending in time for to sail in the Sea Breeze Event. Popular subjects include starting tactics, Spinnaker handling, and mark rounding. The on-water coach may continue to help the B fleets during the race. Please register separately for Training session, and contact the Club Manager and/or the training coordinator if you need a boat or crew to participate. The three club Flying Scots will be available for this event.
LATE REGISTRATION & CHECK IN At 1030 on the downstairs porch of the main clubhouse.
SKIPPERS' MEETING At the discretion of the Race Chair and/or the fleet One Design Fleet captains (FS, FR, Portsmouth) the event may be modified to conform with the training plan. The meeting will be held at 1130.
RACING The warning signal for the first start will be at 1300 followed by subsequent races. Bring your Caribbean spirit. Channel your inner Parrothead. Get creative with boat decorations and colorful attire. Prizes for the most spirited sailor.
SOCIAL Due to COVID19 concerns, please check for updates with the Event Chair as we get closer to the date. We will evaluate the Social for his event as conditions evolve
AWARDS Awards will be presented by the Race Chair shortly after the conclusion of racing. Prizes given for the most enthusiastically Caribbean sailor! Yeah mon!
