Price Hall in Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1400 Horsepen Road, Richmond, VA
Saturday March 19th, 13:00 to 17:00 Nuts and Bolts Race Committee Training by John McCarthy
Followed by a social at a local pub
There's no race without a race committee. We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to join our race committee team at FBYC. Besides the PRO who runs the race, there are many important jobs to be done. If you are enthusiastic, enjoy teamwork, are adaptable and willing to follow instructions this class will give you the basic skills you need to be a contributor the first time you volunteer for race committee. Some of the jobs include mark setter, wind reader, sounder, spotter/recorder, signaler, timer, line sighter, scorer, committee boat operators, and recorder.
We'll have a display of some of the race committee tools and equipment, a few RC tools for you to take home, and you will meet some current race committee members. You can sign up to be part of a race committee team for an event this year.
Our trainer, John McCarthy, is a master teacher. He has taught hundreds of people race committee skills, and you will learn a lot in a fast paced and fun environment. John has mentored many race committee newbies (including me). You'll probably have lots of questions, and John has the answers.
After the presentation we'll head to a local spot for drinks and conversation.
Click the "sign up" button on the left to sign up today for this fun and informative class. It is the keystone to an enjoyable and well run race.
