Come join us for the Annual Long Distance Race and Fourth of July Cookout. This cookout is for everyone, not just racers! It is actually on the 3rd this year and a Sunday. Bring your picnic blanket, lawn chair, and an umbrella for shade! There is an exciting Long Distance race followed by a cook out. We will have several tubs of water and refreshments, hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwurst, along with some delicious sides and desserts. Details will be on the website as the date approaches. On line registration and payment is mandatory. "Early bird registration" will end Wednesday, June 30th at 8pm. Registration will remain open until 10 am July 2 with ticket pricing adjusted accordingly. Walk up or day of tickets will be very limited.

DESCRIPTION The Long Distance Race is a handicap race open to any One Design boat 24’ length and under at the waterline. The Portsmouth Yardstick D-PN Handicap System will be used to score finishes. See www.ussailing.org/portsmouth. NO OPTIS WILL RACE IN THE LONG DISTANCE RACE DUE TO LONG DISTANCE AND RISK OF OPPRESSIVE HEAT. When entering the boat's Portsmouth rating in Regatta Network, please use the look up feature. Once the boat is found in the index click on the appropriate boat code to enter rating.
LATE REGISTRATION & CHECK IN At 1030 on the downstairs porch of the main clubhouse.
SKIPPERS' MEETING at 1130 - Between the club and the Fishing Bay dock.
START at 1300 - There will be one start for all classes. The class flag will be the numeral pennant “9” and the course number will be posted on the signal boat.
COURSE: The course will use government marks in the Piankatank River and Piankatank Channel. The course will be distributed on the day of the race.
TIME LIMIT If one boat finishes within 4 hours from the start, the race will be valid for all racers.
AWARDS The skipper of the winning boat will receive the Hicks Trophy upon which his/her name will be engraved. Other awards are as described in the Sailing Instructions.

Join us for a relaxed family cookout with hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwurst, along with some delicious sides and desserts. On line registration and payment is mandatory so we are sure we plan for enough food for all.
