Closing Day Regatta & Oyster Roast

All members and guests are invited to join us after racing for our end of the season Oyster Roast at the main clubhouse!   The roast will start between 3-4p after boats arrive back at FBYC after racing.

Please bring a dish to share and let us know what you plan on brining by filling out the Dish SignUp Sheet!

Prizes will be awarded for best dish in each category!

 

 

DESCRIPTION This event will consist of one race for PHRF SPINNAKER, and PHRF NON-SPIN sailboats holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake certificates, CRUISING Class sailboats having a provisional handicap rating assigned by FBYC. This race will be a staggered-start, pursuit race around government marks.

PHRF NON-SPIN and CRUISING Class will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

REGISTRATION Skippers may register and purchase tickets for the Oyster Roast social on Regatta Network.

PROGRAM Join your FBYC Offshore friends in celebrating the last Offshore Racing Event at FBYC for 2022. 

SKIPPERS' MEETING There will be a Skippers’ Meeting at 0930 hours at the flagpole adjacent to the Jackson Creek parking lot.

WARNING SIGNAL The warning signal for the first boat will be at 1100 hours. The Race Committee will provide each boat with its starting time at the Skippers’ Meeting.

COURSES The Race Committee will describe the course at the Skippers’ Meeting.

TIME LIMITS The time limit for the Closing Day Regatta and any following race in the Winter Series shall be four hours from the start time of the boat.   For the Closing Day Regatta, boats that do not finish within the time limit will be scored TLE (Time Limit Expired), which will be equal to the number of competitors plus one.    For the remaining Winter Series events, boats that do not finish within the time limit will be scored TLE, which will be the number of competitors in their class plus one.

SCORING  For yachts choosing to participate in the Winter Series races on November 19th and December 3rd, the score for Closing Day Regatta race will be combined with those races to determine the Winter Series Winner.

CBYRA SANCTION This race is sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards but will not be used in scoring for FBYC annual perpetual trophies.

 

 

 

WINTER SERIES Event Notice
Saturdays, October 29, November 19 and December 3

NOTICE The event information below, used in conjunction with the General Offshore Notice of Race comprises the complete NOTICE OF RACE for the event.

DESCRIPTION This series will consist of a single pursuit format race on three days for:

PHRF SPINNAKER A, B & C (holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake certificates)
PHRF NON-SPIN (holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake certificates)
CRUISING Class (sailboats having a handicap rating assigned by FBYC)

PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

PROGRAM Awards will be presented for each day’s races and refreshments will be provided by FBYC after each day’s races except for Closing Day. Overall awards for the series will be presented during the social program following the last Winter Series Race on December 3, 2022. 

WARNING The warning signal for the first race each day will be at 1100 hours.

STARTING AREA will be in the vicinity of FBYC “B”.

COURSE The course set in the skippers meeting for the Closing Day/Winter Series #1 race may apply to all races.

TIME LIMITS The time limit for any race in the series shall be four hours calculated from the actual start time of the highest handicapped yacht participating on any race day. If one boat in a class or subclass finishes within the time limit, boats still racing that do not finish within 30 minutes of the first boat finishing in her class will be scored TLE (Time Limit Expired) which will be equal to the number of competitors plus one. 

SCORING Daily awards are awarded based on the “Low-Point Scoring System”. The Winter Series winner in each class (PHRF Spinnaker, NS, Cruising) will be the qualified boat having the highest score for the series based on the “High-Point Percentage Scoring System”. There are no throw outs.
