The 10th Wee Dram will voyage to Cape Charles again this year.  Note:  You may start any time after 7:00am on Thursday, August 24, 2023.  Bear in mind that the social is at 5:30pm on Saturday.  The fleet is split between arriving Friday or Saturday.  30 slips are reserved, so sign up early.  Slips assigned by registration date.  There will be a waiting list in case of cancellations.

“Rules”:

  1. Entry Fee – brown bagged bottle of single malt scotch whisky (no “e”). No screw caps.
  2. Non-spinnaker, single head sail.
  3. All crew are to overnight aboard (like the old days). Grab a sail bag to sleep on.

Please check fbyc.net for most current updates/changes.

Course:

Start:  Each boat will start herself and record the time that the helm position is within 100 yards due north of Piankatank G3 (FBYC C).  You may start any time after 7:00am on Thursday, August 24, 2023.

Finish:  Each boat will record their finish time when the helm position is within 100 yards due west of G “1CC” Fl G 2.5s (marking the entrance of the Cherrystone Inlet Channel and Cape Charles Harbor).

Wolf Trap Light is not a mark of the course and may be left to either Port or Starboard.

The Social

Each boat is asked to bring an appetizer to share, and one “entry fee” noted above for the contest within the contest.  Also, if you can bring a table or a tent, that would be great.

The club will provide food to supplement the appetizer table, water bottles, tasting cups, voting cups, paper towels, and trash cans.

As votes for the most inspiring brown bagged scotch are being tallied, adjusted cruising elapsed times will be determined, and the Wee Dram burgee awarded along with a special bottle to the boat with lowest adjusted time.  There is no obligation for the winner to host next year.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in any race or regatta entirely at their own risk as instructed in RRS, Rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the race or regatta.
