If you have been through Deltaville recently, you have probably spotted signs for the Mathews VFD's First Annual Boat Docking Contest. Don't worry - you don't have to enter the contest - just watch! The competitors are in commercial workboats. Here's a link to the event:

Chris Lindbloom was recently quoted as saying "if you've never been to a boat docking contest, you just have to go!"
The event takes place on Saturday June 22nd from 11 AM to 7:00 PM at Williams Wharf on the East River and it is a benefit for the Mathews Volunteer Fire Dept. The event includes bands and beer. There will be food trucks and other vendors too. Organizers will shuttle you from your boat to the event. Hail them on VHF channel 18. This is a ticketed event, but you may be able to watch from your own boat anchored a safe distance away.
There are many ways to join us on this cruise. Arrive on Friday and find a prime spot to anchor on the beautiful East River (a little further upstream from Williams Wharf) or come on Saturday morning and take your chances. Not into the boat docking contest? No worries - just go for a nice sail and arrive whenever you want and simply enjoy the company of fellow FBYC cruisers. Depending on participation, we'll gather on one of the boats for refreshments or possibly make dinner plans on Saturday night. Distance from the entrance to Jackson Creek is about 29 NM.
