BIG SHARKS! Jerry Pattenaude along with
crew Joe Lieberman (and we all thought he was campaigning in
New Hampshire!) won the 2004 Shark Midwinter Regatta in Tavenier,
Florida, in January. This is not new for Jerry - his 2004 win marks a
tri-fector - third consecutive time he has won the event. Go,
Jerry!
The former skipper of Conspiracy, Brian
McCauley, has retired from his "support your racing habit" career
and moved into a far more sailing related field. Brian is now a
surveyor of boats and will soon have his 100 Ton Masters' license. He says
he can, "assess your boat's value AND take it to Key West for you!" Now,
that's a good gig!
Great photo and quote from Steve Hunt ( 420
Olympic campaign) in February Sailing World (see pages
35-36). Steve and crew Eben Russell, as usual, showing
classy attitude.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE CHANGES: The date
for the Greater Hampton Roads Hospice Regatta has been changed to
August 8, 2004. The Dink Vail Regatta, sponsored by NYCC, may be
held on September 18, 2004. Remember, this is based on
latest available info - very soon Region 4 schedule will be final, but is not
yet. However, this change looks good for preliminary
planning.
MURPHY'S LAW:
Groundhog Day - Today the lovable little character pokes his
head out of his hole to check the above ground situation. If he sees his
shadow, it frightens him back down the hole and he stays there for
another 6 weeks [of winter]. He's a lot like the sewerman on a
race boat peeping out of the forward hatch, trying to find out what the
bowman has done with the chute, but not really wanting to know!
Living to race, racing to live. /s/ Murphy the Racing
Beagle
