One Design Sailors and Juniors are invited to enjoy a weekend of fall SAILING AND FUN. The races and associated activities are to raise awareness and resources to benefit the research and prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). SIDS is the leading cause of death in infants between the ages of 1 and 12 months. There is currently no known cause or cure. All proceeds will go to the either the Maxwell Raymond Braun Memorial Fund or Hayes Hitzeman Foundation (www.hayesfoundation.org) whose vision is a future in which no one experiences the loss of a baby to SIDS. NYYC Invitational Cup features 4 FBYC members on 2 yachts

aret.jpgNext Wednesday, September 16th, is the first day of racing for all competitors in the NYYC Invitational Cup, sponsored by Rolex, Sperry Top-Sider and Nautor’s Swan. Beginning at 1100, 19 amateur teams from 14 countries will cross the starting line in NYYC Swan 42s, and many months of preparation will come to fruition as this exciting event gets underway.

Harbour Court will see plenty of action on and off the water, and NYYC members have been invited to enjoy watching the teams racing from spectator boats that have been generously provided by fellow members. In addition, members are invited to join in the social activities that are planned throughout the week.

BATTLEWAGON   Wins  Halsey Trophy at Stingray.    Paul Cross'  Battlewagon swept the  PHRF Non-Spin Division at the 2009 Stingray Point Regatta - five bullets in five races over two days of racing.  A total of 35 boats were at the Fishing Bay Yacht Club annual Labor Day weekend regatta, got in some nice racing on Saturday and Sunday and, those who had deliveries to accomplish, dodged gentle rain showers on Monday on the way home.  Here's how things shook out when all was said and done:  RESULTS:     PHRF A (9 boats) - 1.Leroi Lissenden, Voodoo 2;  2.Bob Mosby, Cyrano;  3.Sam Mitchener, Double Eagle.    J/105 One Design (6 …

FBYC Juniors Form Richmond High School Sailing Association

Six FBYC Juniors have formed the Richmond High School Sailing Association (RHSSA) sponsored by FBYC and Deep Run High School. Madeleine and Graeme Alderman, Conrad and Eric Roos, Jeremy Herrin and Ben Buhl will sail on Saturday’s this fall and compete within the Virginia Interscholastic Sailing Association (VISA). Other schools include, Norfolk Collegiate, Hampton Roads Academy, Christ Church, Maury, Poquoson , Walsingham, and a few others.

FBYC Juniors in the greater Richmond area are starving for a venue to sail in the fall and spring. Randy Stokes, President of VISA was instrumental helping to pave the way for FBYC Juniors to gain an incredible opportunity.
