2012 Laser Frostbite Regatta Results

Fishing Bay Yacht Club finished up their sailing season with Laser Fleet hosting the frostbite regatta. 9 hardy sailors came out for 5 races in light winds that shifted between west and north. With short, double lap, modified windward leeward courses there were plenty of opportunities to pass. The key to the day was really looking up the course and getting in the best position to get the best new wind.
1st for the day was Jon Deutsch (FBYC) finishing the day with 3 bullets. But it wasn't a walk in the park for Jon, Neil Ford came back in the last race to get within a foot of Jon at the finish in an attempt to steal the day. Robert Suhay had a great day, relying on his ability to find different wind and sail around everyone to stay up with the leaders and finish 3rd.
We had one small scare for the day when Luke Hayes took a spill off his boat into the path of another boat who was unable to turn away in time. When Luke popped out of the water he got a slow-speed bow to the face resulting in a minor cut and at trip to the ER (he's ok).
After racing the sailors and race committee were treated to a chili social and some live music.
We'd like to thank Lud Kimbrough and his crew for the great job they did running our races and Janice Moore for the wonderful social after racing! We'd also like to thank the 4 Hampton Roads Laser Fleet sailors for coming and sailing with us before they kick off their winter Sunday afternoon frostbite season.
