FBYC sent three boats to the Atlantic Coast Championships (ACCs) held in Edenton, NC this past weekend (Sept 22-23).  Len Guenther (with John Wake crewing, Jay Buhl with Mike Karn crewing, and Mark Wensell with Skip Hope crewing.  All three did us proud by finishing in the top 10 out of 22 boats.  Len and John took 3rd place, Jay and Mike took 4th, and Mark and Skip finished 8th.

It is great to have an on-the-scene reporter, so without further ado, I turn this over to John Wake:

22 boats with a couple of notable MIA's....Rob W., Neff.
Harry C. Beats Aras on the tiebreaker, Lenny was a close 3rd until his bonehead …

We had a great turnout of 12 Lasers on Sunday for the Laser Fall Regatta.  The wind on the other hand didn't turn out leaving us 5-8 knots for the 7 races.  Dan Herlihy won the day with 4 bullets and some pretty consistent sailing.  Some of the lightweight juniors in Standard rigs definitely took some shots at top finishes in the light-air.  Jake Spracher put up pretty consistent 2s and 3s to finish 2nd and Jon Deutsch was 3rd.  Top Juniors were Conrad Roos and Eric Roos.

Fall Series Begins Saturday

Paul Wash on

Offshore Racing

Offshore skippers, this is to remind everyone that the FBYC Offshore Fall Series begins this Saturday with the first warning at 1100 hours. The cold front that came through after the Wolf Trap race last weekend has brought cooler temperatures and less humidity...a welcome break from the intensity of the summer. Saturday’s forecast says highs in the low 80s and winds out of the ENE. Registrations are a bit low presently and it makes it tough to figure out who's coming, so as soon as you have a moment, please visit the FBYC site and sign up.

And...if for some odd reason the racing didn’t excite you, we will have the traditional post-race social in the spot …
