FBYC Reopening – July Update

Tracy Schwarzschild on

Commodore

FBYC 4th of July Race and Cookout

David Hinckle on

One Design Racing

Please sign up via the FBYC website if you are planning to attend this weekend’s event.  The long term forecast looks like we will have great weather featuring a nice breeze and moderate temperatures.

While we would normally have an FBYC sponsored picnic following the event this year we are encouraging people to bring their own items if they wish to cookout.  The grills will be available and there will be tables and chairs set up to facilitate social distancing.  We want everyone to enjoy the club facilities but we also want all of our members to feel comfortable while on the campus.

It was a beautiful day to get back to racing for the Lasers, Radials and Flying Scots. 5 Scots sailed with a dozen Lasers and another 10 or so Radials in 4 races on sunny but cool day with light winds 9-12 out of the ENE. Lew Thatcher and the crew of Catitude headed up the Race Committee while Paul Almany was on station snapping some pictures.

FBYC Reopening - June Update

Tracy Schwarzschild on

Commodore

Just as we are all used to anticipating and responding to the shifting breeze in Fishing Bay, the Flag, the Sailing Commanders, Chairs, our staff, and numerous volunteers are all at work to actively monitor and adapt to the dynamic environment driven by CoVid 19. As we move into June, with recommended safety measures in place, we will see racing extend beyond the virtual to the real, with Offshore, Juniors, and One-Design sailors competing on the water. For 2020, the Junior programs have been restructured around an exciting vision for Juniors to learn and enjoy sailing with appropriate safeguards.

As FBYC is committed to following the evolving guidance from the State of Virginia around group interactions, we are assessing actions …
