As previously announced, we are hosting a Melges 15 demo day at FBYC on September 11. East Coast Sailboats will have their demo boat at the club for the day. We will start with a rigging demonstration at 10:00 and plan on sailing starting at 11:00. Demo sails will be slotted for 30 min. each which should allow for both people to sail in the skipper and crew positions. Don’t worry if you don’t have another person, we can match individuals up if needed. Signups will be done via-SignUpGenius. Please see the link below.

Join us for an afternoon of finesse and fierce competition in the 4th Annual YAM Labor Day Cornhole Tournament. Not quite satisfied with how the regatta ended up? You have an opportunity to right the ship. First place in the regatta? Continue your dominance off the boat. Didn’t get a chance to sail this year? Here’s your chance to get in on the competition. Come with a teammate or we’ll find someone for you to play with on the day of the tournament. All are welcome.

Our 27 ^th Annual Stingray Regatta is fast approaching.  Racing and Onshore Parties all Labor Day Weekend.  Don’t forget to Sign Up and don’t miss out on racing or the fantastic Onshore Socials! 

Dinners are available Friday night ( DeltaPie Pizza/Salad/Dessert) and Saturday Evening ( White House Catering Beef/Pork/Chicken BBQ) with fantastic salads and sides. 

The Jangling Reinharts are performing on stage under the Big Tent Saturday evening as well. 

Top this all off with The Infamous Bottomless Beer Glass ($20 covers all three days) of Legends Citrus Ale and Legends OctoberFest - plus Wine Options and Pirates Rum Punch.

Take a demo sail in the newest design by Melges Performance Sailboats. East Coast Sailboats will be at the club offering demo sails on Saturday, September 11^th. There will be demo sails off the Fishing Bay beach in the first part of the day before transitioning to the East Dock of Jackson Creek for post-Wolftrap Race demos. Additional details to come. The Notice of Race has been posted for the 40th Chesapeake Bay Laser Masters Championship this October 2-3, and registration is now open.

It's hard to believe it's been 40 years since this event started and is now one of the longest continuously running events at the club.

This year we're extending the scoring to include a Legends division. Instead of having Great Grand Masters covering 65+, GGM will be 65-74 and Legends will cover 75+. This is in line with other masters regattas and will better recognize that age group.

Are you interested in serving in a volunteer or leadership position at the Club?  This is the time of year during which we plan for next year’s Board and Committee leadership positions.  Offshore, Cruising, One Design, Junior Programs, Adult Programs, Facilities and Equipment, Special Events and Social Activities are all areas in which volunteers serve our Club.  Many of our Board and Committee volunteers remain for ongoing service, but we typically have individuals who may wish retire from Board or Committee service or simply take some time off.  We also have opportunities to consider members who have the commitment and time to share their talents in a hands-on leadership role.  If you, or someone you know, would be an …

New and returning participants, club members, non-club members, racers and beginners were on hand for this weekend’s Women’s Clinic.  For some it was an introduction to sailing while others in the advanced course practiced starting line techniques. Saturday started with some classroom instruction and moved to the Flying Scots on the water to practice various sailing techniques.

On Sunday, Coaches Holly Sears and Charlie Arms kept the classes engaged with drills in the boat on land and various discussion topics when the weather kept the classes off the water.

Since 2015 FBYC has hosted a southern leg start to the St. Mary's Governor's Cup. With starts in Annapolis, Solomons and Fishing Bay - all of the fleets start Friday afternoon and evening and race overnight meeting at St. Marys. There's a great party Saturday night and most crews return home Sunday.

We had a gorgeous night for the start out at FBYC's G (Rappahannock 1R). The wind was light and the current was strong making the start a challenge not to be over early. That same current carried the fleet swiftly north after the start.  The second highlight for the RC were the 50+ dolphins in all directions as they were weighing anchor.
