ANNUAL SOUTHERN CHESAPEAKE BAY LEUKEMIA CUP REGATTA slip by you.
All set to go for Saturday, July 9th, this event includes a
skippers' breakfast, CBYRA sanctioned racing, and a Grand Gala & Awards
Ceremony after the day's racing. Entry deadline is Wednesday, July
6th. This is an event that is certainly for a worthy cause. It is
also perfectly positioned on the racing calendar, so that racers traveling from
the "far southern" part of Bay can use it as a weekend stop before jumping off
to Screwpile in Solomons the following weekend. For info contact event
chairman Judy Buis at (804) 358-9475 or (804) 725-0218 Hosted by

Orange Blossom Special (OBS):
Rick Sills says one of his crew members, Mark
Wolfe, on Windblown, is the new owner of OBS.
Good to know she is still in her home waters.
There is a new sailing shoe on the market
from Sebago. It is made of sailcloth. Owning it will confirm your
status as a racing gear-hog. The shoe features waterproofing, air mesh
linings, hidden webbing eyelet lacing, stretch collars, rear loop pulls and
yadayada. Most important, it is decorated with sail numbers to convince
newbies to our sport that you actually have shoes made from your old racing
sails! Too cool !!
There are already 112 entries from 31 different clubs
in SCREWPILE 2005: Alex Alvis'
Chilcoot, David Kelsey's Pegasus, and
Brad Davis' Blade Runner have joined the
Southern Bay Brigade going to Screwpile - bringing this
morning's number to 21. Southern Bay racers already entered come for
6 Virginia (and beyond) clubs. Fishing Bay YC, Hampton
YC, Broad Bay SA, CCV Racing (Cruising Club of Virginia),
Dahlgren YC, and Outer Banks SA.
After winning the PHRF B fleet and being the only boat to
finish the longer course (11.2 nm) at Cock Island, the Wham Bam team
headed to Annapolis yesterday to help crewbie Pete DeWolfe and his wife
Bonnie deliver home their "newly acquired" 1998 Hunter 31,
Sunseeker.

77th HYC Annual Regatta for Laser, 420,
Hampton One Design, and Opti classes - this coming weekend, July
2-3, Saturday and Sunday. For info contact Jane and Tyler Moore at (757)

MURPHY'S LAW: I, of
course, being the benchmark racing gear dog, have to have those new
sailcloth racing shoes. Only trouble is, I have to buy my foot gear by the
set, not the pair. In looking at the pricing ($90 per pair), a full
set is going to cost me more than 4 new tires for the
family vehicle. That's OK though - it's a priority
thing! /S/ Murphy the Racing
Beagle, the sailing spirit in us all.
Dear
Readers - Please note: Next week SBRNYCU will take
