"Whatever LOLA wants, ..."
Radio Flyer, the Tripp 26 until recently owned by
Dennis Hannick, is in Pensacola, Florida, earning her way with
a new owner, Carlos Melville, who lost his previous Tripp to a tornado and
no doubt is delighted to have Radio Flyer. Dennis and the
RF crew have another ride for the coming season - LOLA is a
Thompson T750. Look for her on the PHRF A starting lines at Southern Bay
Race Week, Screwpile, and other events on the southern Bay and elsewhere.
IT'S ANNA AGAIN! Former ODU All
American Anna Tunnicliff has been named the 2007
Scuttlebutt US Yachtswoman. Mentioned in addition to her
racing accomplishments is her commitment to the sport and the sailors,
especially the young ones, in it. Scuttlebutt, among other
comments, said, "...she is very well liked."
Hobies Head South - Both Hobie 33s from
the southern Bay PHRF A fleet plan to head to St Petersburg for the NOOD
Regatta, February 15-17. Christian Schaumloffel
(Mirage) and crew are going with hope of defending the class midwinter
trophy and, Jim Williams and Will Roberts (Treaty of
Ghent) will be there with designs on regatta hardware too.
The good news and the bad news: The
good news is Butch Paterson actually has taken delivery on his
Santana 30/30 GP, Schock Full-a-Nuts (she came over the road from
Kentucky). But, now he is "working her bottom", all 30 feet of it,
in the January cold. If you go by Cobbs boat yard to see Butch and
the boat, take something warming to drink.
