You might want to call Downtown Hampton's dockmaster, Greg Harrison at
1-866-556-9631. The slips are within site of and a very brief
walk from Hampton Yacht Club, SBRW Event Headquarters. Greg says he'll
take real good care of the racers who decide to stay at his facility (located
right next door to the Crown Plaza waterfront hotel (previously the Hampton
Radisson), and... this year he guarantees no "harassment" by
pirates!!! The Hampton Annual Pirate Festival is the weekend
after SBRW this year and the good side of that is more el primo
slips available for SBRW racers.

Media Watch: The
May issue of SAILING has an article on
Argentina's Beagle Channel, "The Snow-Covered Summer", by
Mariachristina Rapisardi with photographs by Giovanni Rapisardi. The
Rapisardis do the Channel in their Oyster 72, Billy Budd, during
Argentina's winter. It's a special piece, mainly because of the
topic and, as always with SAILING, the photographs. Those
southern Bay racers who a couple of months ago enjoyed
John Martin's
presentation on sailing the same Argentina waters en route to rounding Cape
Horn, will be familiar with the subject. Murphy, the Racing
Beagle, personally recommends the article and also that you keep a copy to
read again while warming on our Bay in
mid-August!
Shutterbugs! If you've got a good shot
you'd like to share (without expectation of monetary compensation), send
it to Jake Brodersen, Editor of the CCV Racing
Guide at patandjake@cox.net. Please include the words "CCV Photo" in the subject line.
Jake can't use everything you send, but good composition and action shots have a
great chance to appear in the pages of the next CCV Racing
Guide. By submitting photos, you agree to their use and publication
by CCV, either in the CCV Racing Guide or on the CCV web page. Be
sure to include identifying information regarding the shot and your name and
contact info. Jake will take 'em at any time during the year.

MURPHY'S LAW: Yrs
Truly, the Racing Beagle has noticed a plethora of advertisements for
new, improved, and grand FLOATING WINCH HANDLES. If floating winch handles
are the end all to save all, why, the Murphster asks, don't we all
just head out to the racing grounds and pick up a few with a trusty
crab net? /S/ Murphy the Racing Beagle, the
sailing spirit in us all.
