BLACK WIDOW wins the CAPE HENRY CUP!
Thirty-two (32) boats raced Saturday for the Cape Henry Cup in
conditions that were indicative of a more genteel brand of sailing,
i.e., "Gentlemen do not sail upwind!". The winds were moderate
and dictated to almost the entire fleet that headsail reaching was the order of
the day. It was a great day to get to know your fellow crewbies
- no tacks to interrupt conversation! Leo Wardrup,
BLACK WIDOW, won the Cape Henry Cup by pasting
the rest of the PHRF Non-Spin fleet by 11 minutes and 41 seconds
(corrected). RESULTS: PHRF A (8 boats) - 1.Christian

38 KNOTS!!?!
Holy flappin' cape, Batman! That's where a couple of gusts
were clocked Saturday before last in the Hampton Roads harbor as a valiant group
of 5o5's sailed and attempted to sail in winds mostly in
the mid to upper 20s. When you are getting ready for the 5o5 North
Americans in Chicago next month, you have to SAIL when
it's WINDY! The group of 6 boats got in 6 races over the
weekend. When all was said and done, finishing in the top half of the
fleet were: 1.Geoff Ewenson (SSA) / Tyler Moore(HYC);
2.Jesse Falsone(SSA) /Chris Behm (HYC); 3.Dustin Romey (LBVYC) / Henry
Amthor (HYC). Race Chairman: Bob Thomas; Mark Boat: Tom
Wood. NOTE: Southern Bay racers will be able to get a "close up and
personal" look at the 5o5s when HYC hosts the 5o5 East Coast Championships,
September 24-26.

SBRW Hometown Heros - these racers (and friends of the
regatta) have volunteered to man the beer truck or the rum table or some

MURPHY'S LAW: A racing acquaintance,
paraphrasing W.C. Fields, told Yrs Truly the Racing Beagle,
that he never drinks water because of what fish do in it. Just
more proof that beer is healthy and safe - never seen a fish at the
regatta beer truck, have ya? Well, I should say . . . !
/S/ Murphy the Racing Beagle, the sailing spirit in us
all.
