#500 SOUTHERN BAY RACING NEWS YOU CAN USE
Monday July 12, 2010 09:49PM
onLEUKEMIA CUP RESULTS: At the 12th
Annual Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta folks did their share in
contributions through entry fees for a special and significant event.
Plans were to race Saturday and Sunday, but, as so often happens, Mother nature
had a lot to say about that. There was a dearth of wind both days (other
than during the super thunder boomer on Saturday) in the Chesapeake
off Stingray Point. Sometimes, it just goes that way. On Saturday,
one very short race was completed on the Classic and Cruising Fleets
course. On Sunday, the same folks managed two more short races for a 3
race series. On the PHRF and One-Design Course, it all came down to the
one 5-mile race on Sunday. A total of 77 boats raced over the
weekend - 44 PHRF and One-Design along with 34 Classic and Cruising
Fleet. RESULTS: PHRF A (& boats): 1.Sam

10am. Cookout, prize giving etc. at 2.30pm. Classes for Optimists, Sunfish,

From the Rappahannock Record newspaper
website: A 25-year-old Glen Allen woman
died and nine people were seriously injured in a boating
accident in the Rappahannock River between Water View and Morattico at
about 10:15 p.m. Monday, July 5, according to John Bull, the director of public
relations at the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC).
Members of the USCG Auxiliary were first responders to
this terrible accident. From Hud Davis, Vice
Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 3-7, comes the following plea to "...
all sailors to join the Auxiliary/Power Squadron and share the wisdom they have
acquired, and share/give back, so that many accidents can be prevented. Our
instructors are aging, and the numbers are shrinking, and you can help turn this
around."
Think about it. To contact Hud Davis call 804-283-2519
cell; to join the Auxiliary click on http://join.cgaux.org/

ATTENTION SBRNYCU Readers:
Yrs Truly, The Murphster, and the entire staff will be
soakin' up Screwpile this coming weekend. Look for issue #501 on
Monday, July 26.
MURPHY'S LAW: To a soccer player the Golden Boot is a grand award, but on a race boat if a crewbie gets the boot, you won't see him anymore. A Marine recruit is a boot and a Denver boot keeps the car from being driven. A bum shortstop will boot the ball and a good football kicker will boot extra points. You can bet your boots on most anything. And, there is always more to boot. These are deep thoughts to be explored while delivering the boat to Screwpile! Take rum! /S/ Murphy the Racing Beagle, the sailing spirit in us all.
