over 9 races at this national championship youth regatta. Also from the
southern Bay and finishing in the middle of the highly competitive

CAPE CHARLES CUP - August 14 - 15, Saturday and
Sunday. Entries for the 2010 Cape Charles Cup close TODAY,
Monday, August 9, at 1500 hours. A point to point
to point race for racers and cruisers. This is certainly
one of the best two-day southern Bay summer regattas. There are two
races. On Saturday, race from Norfolk's Little Creek area to Cape Charles,
party and spend the night at the lovely Bay Creek Resort and Marina
(or dock at Cape Charles Harbor), and then race on Sunday from Cape Charles to
Buckroe. Broad Bay Sailing Association pulls it all together.
Event Chair - Jim Williams; PRO - John McCarthy. For information
and entry, please contact Scott Almond at (757) 471-2663 or CCCup@broadbaysailing.org.
2010 SAP 505 World Championships -
Southern Bay 505 racer, TYLER MOORE, of Hampton, VA, and GEOFF
EWESON, of Annapolis, finished in the Top 20 (16th
overall) of 126 at the 505 World Championships in Denmark last week. Extreme
and unpredictable conditions were the topic of the day at the
regatta. Tyler and Geoff had their best day on the next to last day
of the regatta, when they registered two thirds. Also, racing at the
505 Worlds were father Chris and teenage son Tom Rasmussen
. This was the Rasmussen's first venture into the 505 Worlds; they
finished 110th and sailed in all but the two races (30+ knots) on the first
day. The 505 East Coasts Championships will be hosted at
Hampton Yacht Club next month, September 24-25-26, 2010. This will be
a great opportunity to watch great sailors racing really, really fast two-man
dinghies in Hampton Roads.
FEATHER MASTERS THE MASTERS
- Phil Briggs' J36 Feather and her all-star Geritol@ crew won the
annual Tom Brady Master's Race hosted by Hampton Yacht Club
Saturday. On Feather, toiling at the winches and hauling on the
halyards were Stan Morris, Glenn Giles,
Judy Cotton, Dave Revill, Jimmy
Shoemaker, and Phil Briggs, while Bill
Peach had the helm. The finish was up Hampton River at the HYC
docks and that is where Rusty Burshell and the Cool
Change gang made up enough time on Andy Armstrong's
Virginia H to grab 2nd place among the 7 competing boats. Race
Committee - Bill and David Gibbings
DON'T TELL BUMPS!

organizing this surprise party and he can be reached at (757)

Ben Weeks and the crew of Rumble persevered in light
air for 11 very loooooooooong miles on Saturday to win the
annual Admiral's Cup, co-hosted by York River Yacht Club and Seaford Yacht
Club. The dearth of air did not deter the racers from the party
hosted by Seaford Yacht Club. Results: Spinnaker (4 boats):
1.Ben Weeks&Michele Cochran, Rumble;
2.Jim Bordeaux, Soltice. Non-Spin
(5 boats): 1.Chuck Eldred, Gail Force;

Save your navigation and strategy notes from the Cape

Roads harbor on Friday evening (first warning is at 1900
hours), August 20, and heads, weather permitting, to Cape Charles
Light and back to the finish line in the Harbor. For details and entry
info, please contact Bob Thomas at (757) 898-9407-home or (757)
864-3913-office.
Jeff Neurauter and crew Happy Omstead win the
46th ANNUAL VIRGINIA GOVERNOR'S CUP by virtue
of winning the largest fleet (Buccaneers, 11) at
the regatta. As on the York River , squeezing races out of
4-5 knot zephyrs proved to be quite an accomplishment on the Ware
River. But, event officials and racers got in two races on Saturday
and three on Sunday for almost everyone. One-Design Fleet Winners:
Buccaneers (11) - Jeff Neurauter & Happy Omstead;
Albacore (7) - Barney Harris & Lee Mullins;
Hampton One Design (8) - Latane Montague & Travis
Dozier; Laser (6) - Jon Deutsch.
[Portsmouth Class results not available at publication time. ] A total of
40 boats sailed in this regatta. Organizing Authority - Ware River Yacht
Club; PRO - Rick Klein.

MURPHY'S LAW: When they said "Dog
Days", Yrs Truly the Racing Beagle didn't know they meant
grilled Dog Days. Now I have these
cooking stripes on me sides from laying on the planks of the dock! The
Murphster is truly sizzlin'! /S/ Murphy the Racing Beagle,
the sailing spirit in us all.
