ALL PHRF RACERS – IMPORTANT DATE, November 17, 2012, Annual PHRF of the Chesapeake Meeting in Fredericksburg, VA, at the Hilton Garden Inn. There are proposals on the table: 1. Fleet Splits (includes changes to Region 4 (Southern Bay) NORTH Division A and B fleet splits); 2.Revision to lifeline requirements; 3.Changes to asymmetrical spinnaker limitations; 4. Election of officers (Steve Taylor is nominated as Region IV VP and Bob Thomas as Secretary/Treasurer); and, 5. NEWS from the POTOMAC AREA. Potomac River Yacht Racing Council was re-established this year after a 13 year hiatus. The Council consists of 6 yacht clubs on the Potomac River ranging from Alexandria, Virginia, on the north to Kinsale, Virginia, and Leonardtown, Maryland, at the southern end. The Council members are: Dangerfield Island Sailing Club, Quantico Yacht Club, Dahlgren Yacht Club, Middle Potomac Sailing Association, Northern Neck Sailing Association, and Barnacle Cup Sailing. The clubs of the Council administered a seven race series along with the Governors Cup Potomac. 2012 winners are: Spinnaker Fleet - Shadowfax skippered by Denis Bessette (Dahlgren YC); Non-Spinnaker Fleet - What Boat skippered by Woody Morris (Northern Neck SA). Kudos for the organizational comeback.
