Attention Pirate wannabes

Attention Pirate wannabes! The Cruising and One Design Fleets, co-hosts for the August 6th Pirate Cruise, are looking for a great FBYC Club turnout for the beach gathering at the Hole-in-the-Wall beaches of Gwynn Island. No race event is scheduled, but fun is! We’re hoping to attract some dark-side power boaters in case the winds aren’t favorable for the One Design participants, but we will work it out regardless. Come One, Come ALL.
Leaving FBYC in order to gather around 1045 hours in the wide waters of Hill’s Bay, off Stove Point, the plan is for a brief seagoing water battle. Cruisers beware that the One Designer’s are planning a strafing run due to their potentially limited maneuverability! Bring plenty of water cannons (we learned last year that water balloons aren’t good weapons due to the environmental traces, both in the water and on the decks of our craft) We’ll head for the rendezvous point at Hole-in-the-wall via the Milford Haven swing bridge. An alternate approach is to enter the very narrow channel from the Island’s Southeast side through Milford Haven Spit. It not recommended for fixed keel craft. Meet up in the water at the center of the South beach island section for a Noonish treasure hunt. Participants, particularly those young ‘uns, will be given a treasure map to find the Pirate’s buried booty. Other beach side activities for the older crowd, like Frisbee football, will be organized before the Pirate’s bountiful feast. OK, the fare is simply sandwich fixin’s and a few munchies. Marshmallows over an open fire? We’ll see how things work out! BYOBeverage of choice. Dress up like a scurvy rascal and win!
Things should wrap up around 1430, or whenever you decide to shove off, for the return sail to FBYC. Hope to see you all there!
