Awesome Opening Day (even with the rain!)

onMore than 150 members celebrated FBYC's Opening Day events. What did we do? We raced 'round the marks; heard the bagpipes call; gathered to bless the fleet; enjoyed great live music; tasted local wines and ate Italian dishes. More than anything else, we rekindled long-term friendships and traded tales of "boat ownership woes" and plans for the next cruise.
Perhaps this weekend story embodies FBYC the most:
A sailor from Colorado was living on his boat, on the hard in Deltaville, waiting to launch. Our chaplain, Doug Anderson, recognized a kindred spirit and invited him to both the Friday night cruising dinner and to our big Opening Day celebration. Everyone embraced him with open arms. Said our new friend, Rick, "This was the most welcoming and friendly group of sailors I've met. Thank you for making me feel like a member if only for a weekend."
And thank you to everyone for making this Opening Day so special. Be sure to check out all the photos at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/170391934@N04/albums/72157679878515378
