We are just days away from the Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta to be based at its new venue at the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park over the weekend of July 11 -12. Already The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is being flooded with registrations from racers around the Bay.
But it’s not too late to participate… registrations are being accepted through Thursday, July 10 at www.leukemiacup.org/va. And those that choose not to be on the racecourse can register for dinners by J&W Seafood and Gala festivities on Friday and Saturday nights to include musical entertainment and an auction. Fun for the entire family!
Registration for the Regatta and a detailed calendar of events is now available online at www.leukemiacup.org/va. In fact, it is highly recommended that reservations be made in advance for dinners online. Or purchase tickets and pick up a brochure at three convenient Deltaville locations: J&W Seafood, Deltaville Maritime Museum, or Norton’s Yacht Sales. Tickets at the door may be in short supply.
Because of the crowds expected at this popular event, voted the Best Regatta on the Bay by the readers of Chesapeake Bay Magazine three years in a row, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is making an appeal for community volunteers to help organize and conduct activities at the Maritime Museum. Any help will be much appreciated. Contact our volunteer organizer, Emmett Toney at 804.350.9123 or email him at etoney@va.metrocast.net for further details.
As in the past, all racing activities will be organized through the Fishing Bay Yacht Club. There will be PHRF Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker Divisions, One-Design Divisions, a Classic Division, and a Cruising Division for a more casual racing format. Making their Leukemia Cup debut this year is the J/70 One-Design Class.
