Cyane Crump for being selected by Style Magazine for this year's Top 40 under 40.
Cyane is a Partner at Hunton & Williams. Style says: "Between her work with the YMCA and the Virginia Bar Association / Young Lawyers Division Central Virginia Pro Bono Hotline, Cyane Crump reaches those whose needs range from a new backpack full of back-to-school goodies to free legal advice.
At Hunton & Williams, she led a restructure of the pro bono hotline, a free phone service staffed by volunteer lawyers who advise callers on their rights and legal options, expanding it to include all the counties from Petersburg to Richmond and Charlottesville.
With the YMCA, what she calls one of the hidden gems of the Richmond community, she has a hand in marketing, mission advocacy and Bright Beginnings, a program for disadvantaged children. Most people think of the YMCA as a fitness center, she says, as it nears its 150th anniversary, but it really is so much more.
