Tuesday June 16, 2020 05:37PM
onAs of this writing three boats from the Cruising Division are signed up to participate in a Delmarva circumnavigation, June 27th through July 3rd. Several others have expressed interest. The three boats so far are Bolero (Lindbloom/ Powell), C’mon Wind (Gregory), and Mood Sway (Moody). This will be a counter-clockwise trip, heading South East out of DVL, through the mouth of the Bay, and an overnight sail North to Cape May, NJ. Following a rest in Cape May the flotilla will progress up the Delaware Bay, arriving at the C&D Canal at a time calculated to motor through the canal, going with the current. (Sailing is not allowed on the 13-mile canal.) Near the Western end of the canal boats will take slips at Chesapeake Inn and Marina, then proceed the next day down the Bay to Annapolis. Following Annapolis is a 45-mile sail to Solomon’s, then the final 55-mile leg back to Deltaville. Because boats will be running on the “outside” overnight, all will be equipped with jack lines and harnesses, and observe 3 or 4 hour watch schedule to keep the crew fresh. All skippers and crew will stay in touch with the other boats via VHF and AIS.
