onDELTAVILLE TORNADO - Message from Vice Commodore, Alex Alvis
As most of us are aware, a devastating tornado struck Deltaville on Saturday evening, April 16th. The Opening Day celebration was in progress at the club at the time. Many of our members sustained property damage of varying degrees. There are personal accounts of those directly witnessing and encountering the wind damage. At the time of this writing, no reports have been made of serious injury or fatalities in Deltaville. Gloucester County was not so fortunate.
FBYC is a neighbor and an integral member of the community. A fund raising effort has begun to benefit the Deltaville Community Center conducted by the Deltaville Community Association. The DCA is a central hub responsible for many elements within the community, including the Fire Department, Rescue Squad, Maritime Museum, ball park, and the Community Center along with the pool and tennis courts.
The goal is to include at least 100 people and organizations to contribute $1,000 each, thus forming the "Deltaville 100". FBYC will become one of those entities. With this notice, I want to encourage our members to make donations of any amount, or to participate as one of the "Deltaville 100". Please make the checks payable to DCA and send them to:
