Deltaville Water System Update: Progress Toward Deployment Trickles Along
Wednesday July 6, 2016 09:38AM
onIn a recent Press Release, the Middlesex Water Authority reported on their vote to continue negotiations with contractor Sydnor Hyrdo for deployment of a water system in Deltaville. According to Carlton Revere, Chairman of the Middlesex Water Authority, "a suitable and sustainable water system should be achievable." The public-private partnership was unsuccessful recently in achieving its goal of 190 additional subscribers. Only 42 new subscriptions were added during the last incentivized connection period which ended June 3rd.
However, perhaps more importantly the Water Authority has been offered an initial funding package from the Virginia Department of Health's Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund consisting of a low interest loan in the amount of $10.2 million at 2.65% for 30 years, and has until July 24th to accept the loan package. The next Middlesex Water Authority meeting will be held on July 13th at 7 pm. Pending successful negotiations and status of a contract with Sydnor Hydro, the Water Authority may vote to move to execute a final agreement to deploy a central water system in Deltaville and accept a loan package with the Virginia Health Department.
