onRic Bauer and I are discussing the FBYC delegation to travel to Columbus to receive the award. Bill Ross, immediate past Commodore and Barbara Griffin, President, of FSSA, will be there.
Needless to say, we could not have done without you and without Barbara Griffin, as President of FSSA. Her unstinting support and meticulous nomination write-up carried the day!
This award is one of five awards given each year by the US Sailing One Design Council for (1) exceptional service as an individual, (2) for leadership as an individual, (3) as a club, (4) for a regatta, or (5) for creativity in the most innovative One Design event. Specifically the Regatta Award to FBYC is made "to recognize excellence in development, promotion, and management by organizers and sponsors of the year's outstanding multi-class regional regatta." Apparently there is precedent for making this award to single class national regattas, because last years' award was made to the 2006 E Scow national Championship at Lake Minnetonka, MN, which like the FSNACs at FBYC, was the largest regatta in that class' history.
