onOkay so she flew across in a 747 but Madeleine Alderman still deserves loads of credit for making the trek across the big pond to participate in the British Optimist Open National Championship hosted by the Pwllheli Sailing Club in Wales.
Madeleine traveled back to the UK with her fellow Optimist sailor Jane Sceales following last week's Optimist National Championship Regatta held in Sarasota, Florida. Madeleine reports winds in excess of 25 knots every day this week with large seas and chilly temperatures. After eight races, Madeleine stands at 40th and Jane at 22nd in the 117 boat senior fleet. We'll have to wait till Friday's results to see where they come out in the wash after the scores are combined with the other fleets.
