FBYC Juniors Swarm Hampton YC Junior Regatta

Competition was keen as the top three Optimist finishers fell within a point of each other. Austin Powers (2nd overall) was narrowly edged out of the first place slot by Billy VanBuren of NYCC. He tied for points with FBYC's Ben Buhl (3rd overall) but broke the tie with a narrow lead on the last race. Austin and Ben were joined by FBYC's Opti prodigy Madeleine Alderman who stayed right on their heels and finished fourth overall, followed by her brother Graeme in fifth (1st in White Fleet) and Kendal Swenson in sixth. Conrad Roos picked up a third in Optimist Blue Fleet and was joined by FBYC Opti racer Aiden Toms who took third in Blue Fleet. Conrad's brother Eric also posted a respectable top-half finish as well. In the Laser Radial class, FBYC sailors Kyle Swenson, Cori Radtke and Michael Keane swept first, second and third respectively in their class.
This week, FBYC Juniors will attend three northern Bay events including West River Sailing Club, Severn Sailing Association and finishing the week at the Bay Open Junior Olympics at Corsica River Yacht Club.
