FBYC website down for maintenance next week
Thursday May 30, 2013 04:03PM
onIn order to bring improvements and needed changes to the FBYC website, we're going to make the site unavailable for a few hours beginning sometime after 10am on Monday, June 3. We hope to complete our work in a few hours, but more time – days - may well be needed. Viewing content on the site may work normally or the site may be simply down. Please expect “Zope Errors”, to have trouble logging in to the site and not being able to register for events or post results.
We have been transitioning from our original Zope platform www.fbyc.net to a newer Django framework http://new.fbyc.net/news/ that serves up the news and where we will manage the member database. We now need to have the same log in credentials on both sites, and that is the major purpose with this maintenance. We are also improving the security of our usernames and passwords to modern best security practices. We will no longer be able to email or tell you forgotten passwords. Instead we will offer a new password recovery system where you must reset your password.
This message is just to let you know of the expected downtime and what we're doing. Thank you for bearing with us while we complete these important and necessary changes. We'll be following up with additional web posts describing any changes and when our work is complete.
We apologize for any inconveniences. If you have any questions contact Jon or Strother.
