onJust a quick recap
of the events this weekend! We had good weather on Saturday and a great
turnout for both the Kayak and Jr. Challenge.
Kayak:
We had 20 people for
the tour which is a great turnout! With registration and fundraising money the
event brought in a total of $2,536! The water was very calm and great for
kayaking and the group even saw a bald eagle!
Jr.
Challenge:
We had 5 teams:
Christchurch School, Norfolk Collegiate, Poquoson H.S., Smithfield H.S., and St.
Christopher's. Christchurch was the winner of the Top Fundraising Award
and Norfolk Collegiate won the sailing. In all this event brought in
$4,952.00 in Fundraising, plus the $5,000 sponsorship from Bank of America
bringing the total to $9,952.00!
The wind was light,
so the sailing was a little slow, but everyone had fun. The kids were a
pleasure to be around and very interested in why we do this
event!
Total for the
weekend: $12,488!
Thanks to everyone
who came out and helped at both events: Carolyn Norton Schmalenberger, Judy
Buis, Bob Kates, Arlene Kates, Jean & Forrest Bailey, Ann Gray, Mike Karn,
Sarah Serra, Jill Shore, Diane Wooten, and Cathy Chisholm. I appreciate all of
your help so much!
