Notice of Race | Inaugural Summer Solstice Ocean Race
Saturday, June 17th, 2017 (makeup date is June 18, 2017)
58 nm daylight race round Chesapeake light for spinnaker fleets (C, non-spin & Cruising - 29.7 nm).
The Chesapeake Light is 1 mile beyond the 12 mile zone in international waters.
The deep draft Thimble Channel is off limits for safety.
Entry fees are: $40 ($35 for USSA members) for entries paid by June 6, 2017.

Friday June 16th @1800 Skippers meeting at Hampton YC
Saturday June 17th @0800 first warning
- A&B fleets from Buckroe near CCV mark "Z" to and round the Chesapeake Light (36* 54.3’N 75* 42.8’W) in the Atlantic and back.
- C fleet, non-spin and Cruising fleet to follow on a 29.7 nm course rounding mark "R2 CH" (36* 57.57’N 76* 00.77’W).
Mandatory Equipment:
- Minimum 28 LOA for the long course.
- Safety equipment for Chesapeake Bay category,
- 25 Watt VHF
- Working engine (for 30 nm).
- Radar-reflector must be set more than 6 feet above deck crossing the starting line.
- Remove coatings on your lifelines (if applicable).
- Personal harness for 50% of the crew. Rig Jack-lines.
- US Coastal category and a handheld VHF/DSC/GPS are strongly recommended.
- Using the raceQs App is strongly encouraged.
Social: on the Hampton YC docks as boats arrive.
